Independence Day

Some thoughts on Independence.

I came to this beautiful country over 30 years ago, and like so many immigrants before me, I was chasing the ‘American Dream’, the shining city on a hill. I have been through recessions, earthquakes, riots and so many other catastrophes. Yet, the dream was always alive deep down in my heart. I wrote songs about it, I wrote lyrics about it, I laughed, I cried about it. Still, it remained an anchor, a solid belief that we can all get along and accept our differences and respect each others opinions.

For we are AMERICANS!

This year, I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel much like celebrating with all that has happened and we are all going through right now.

So, as far as I’m concerned, I will go back to my original impression, this little spark, this little flame that helped me through all this chaos before.

So, maybe we all need a little independence from ourselves. Give ourselves a break and look to where we are, shut out the noise, the social media pressure, the self indulging, the madness that is on the news.

As Don Henley once said so masterfully: ‘Learn to be Still’

So let’s be quiet for a moment, let’s be still.

Just remember we are AMERICANS!

We can do this!

Happy 4th of July.
